has-guge-font-size\">Platformtechnologie en -systeemontwerp<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p>De lucht- en ruimtevaartindustrie is op alle mogelijke manieren aan het innoveren. NLR ontwikkelt de kennis waarmee bedrijven nieuwe, duurzamere luchtvaartuigen kunnen ontwikkelen. Hierbij gaat het om onder meer nieuwe vliegtuigconcepten (waaronder vertical flight-platformen en drones), effici\u00ebntere aerodynamische vormen en nieuwe manieren van voortstuwing, aero-akoestiek, avionicasystemen, en <em>power- en thermal management<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group has-secondary-10-background-color has-background is-vertical is-layout-flex wp-container-core-group-is-layout-305db4b7 wp-block-group-is-layout-flex\" style=\"padding-right:1.5rem;padding-left:1.5rem\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Hoofdlijnen van het onderzoek<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:0px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer wp-container-content-b0b89ccb\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Vliegtuigconcepten<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>We doen onderzoek met behulp van <em>computational physics<\/em> en theoretische aerodynamica: het simuleren en modelleren van vliegtuigcomponenten zoals motoren, vleugels, <em>high-lift<\/em>-systemen, stuurvlakken en propellers, alsook van gehele platformen. Daarnaast bestuderen we aero-elasticteit en vliegtuigbelastingen: het bepalen van structurele belastingen op vliegtuigcomponenten en de interactie tussen deze belastingen, de structuur en stuurvlakken. De nadruk ligt hierbij op <em>high-fidelity-<\/em>analyses. Op het gebied van Vertical Flight Technology onderzoeken we het ontwerpen, modelleren, simuleren, testen, certificeren en opereren van conventionele en innovatieve vliegtuigconfiguraties van onder meer helikopters, (next-gen) rotorcraft en drones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We doen onderzoek naar een grotere vrijheid in opereren om verder, langer en met meer lading Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) te kunnen vliegen, en <em>manned-unmanned teaming<\/em> en <em>swarming<\/em>, in zowel een militaire als civiele context.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:0px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer wp-container-content-b0b89ccb\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Aeroakoestiek<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>We doen onder meer aero-akoestisch en experimenteel aerodynamisch onderzoek naar stillere en meer duurzame vliegtuigconcepten. We ontwikkelen hiermee kennis op het gebied van nieuwe vliegtuigconcepten, in combinatie met geluidsregulering en -certificering. Hiermee versterken we niet alleen onze rol als adviseur voor de Nederlandse overheid, maar kunnen we ook bijdragen aan Europees beleid op het gebied van (vliegtuig)geluid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:0px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer wp-container-content-b0b89ccb\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Avionicasystemen<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Avionicasystemen zijn een cruciaal onderdeel van moderne civiele en militaire lucht- en ruimtevaartplatformen. Belangrijk daarbij zijn onder andere compactheid, hoge betrouwbaarheid, een laag energieverbruik en mechanische robuustheid. Daarnaast zijn avionicameetsystemen essentieel tijdens windtunneltesten en vliegproeven. We doen daarnaast onderzoek naar avionica ten behoeve van windtunnelmodellen, SmallUAS, SmallSat en LH2-systemen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:0px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer wp-container-content-b0b89ccb\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Power- en thermal management<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>We doen onderzoek naar de distributie van elektrische energie en de conditionering van brandstofcellen in nieuwe vliegtuigconcepten en drones. Daarnaast ontwikkelen we koelsystemen voor zowel de lucht- als ruimtevaart.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:0px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer wp-container-content-62aae154\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Enkele projecten<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-text-color has-black-50-color has-alpha-channel-opacity has-black-50-background-color has-background\"\/>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group is-content-justification-left is-layout-constrained wp-container-core-group-is-layout-12dd3699 wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text alignwide has-media-on-the-right is-stacked-on-mobile is-vertically-aligned-center\" style=\"grid-template-columns:auto 40%\"><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Avionica technologie- proeftuin windtunnelinstrumentatie<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>De huidige trend in de markt voor windtunnelmodellen, SmallUAS en SmallSat gaat richting grootschaligere meetcampagnes en missies die hogere prestaties en betrouwbaarheid van de elektronica vereisen dan de huidige technologie kan bieden. De belangrijkste eisen zijn onder andere een klein formaat, hoge betrouwbaarheid, lage stroomverbruik en mechanische robuustheid. Omdat deze eisen in verschillende toepassingsgebieden overeenkomen, is het mogelijk om technologie (componenten en architectuur) en processen te harmoniseren. Er zijn conceptuele ontwerpen gemaakt voor hybride-elektrische en brandstofcel-elektrische configuraties van regionale turboprop vliegtuigen, gebaseerd op de ATR 42 en ATR 72. Numerieke simulaties zijn uitgevoerd om het geluidsgedrag van een high-lift configuratie met een slat track te onderzoeken. Deze simulaties zijn uitgevoerd met behulp van een hybride RANS-LES methode, waarmee de turbulente wervels rond de slat track nauwkeurig kunnen worden berekend. Zowel de berekeningen als de metingen laten zien dat een enkele slat track het geluidsniveau met 5 dB verhoogt over een breed frequentiebereik. Bovendien bleek het berekende stromingsveld rond de slat track goed overeen te komen met metingen die zijn uitgevoerd met behulp van Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV). Het concept van &#8216;Hybrid Electric Propulsion&#8217; (HEP) is verder ontwikkeld, waarna een vliegend schaalmodel is gebouwd. Dit schaalmodel, uitgerust met Distributed Electric Propulsion (DEP), heeft tijdens vliegproeven gegevens over de vliegeigenschappen verzameld, die vervolgens zijn geanalyseerd om de voordelen van toekomstige vliegtuigen met deze technologie te bepalen. De resultaten van deze tests bieden waardevolle inzichten in de mogelijkheden en beperkingen van Hybrid Electric Propulsion en helpen bij de ontwikkeling van effici\u00ebntere en duurzamere
