has-guge-font-size\">Duurzaamheid en Milieu<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p>Vliegtuigen transporteren goederen en verbinden mensen over de hele wereld. Daarmee speelt de luchtvaart een belangrijke rol in ons leven. Tegelijkertijd zorgt de luchtvaart voor geluidsoverlast en draagt de uitstoot van broeikasgassen bij aan de opwarming van de aarde. In 2050 moet de luchtvaartsector voldoen aan de Nederlandse en Europese klimaatdoelstellingen en aan de Sustainable Development Goals van de Verenigde Naties. Duurzaamheid en Milieu is voor NLR daarom een heel belangrijk onderzoeksgebied. We richten ons daarbij op drie kennisgebieden: Duurzaamheid, Geluid en Emissies. Samen met universiteiten, andere kennisinstellingen, bedrijven en de overheid ontwikkelen we oplossingen die de luchtvaart schoner en stiller maken.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group has-secondary-10-background-color has-background is-vertical is-layout-flex wp-container-core-group-is-layout-305db4b7 wp-block-group-is-layout-flex\" style=\"padding-right:1.5rem;padding-left:1.5rem\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Hoofdlijnen van het onderzoek<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:0px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer wp-container-content-b0b89ccb\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Duurzaamheid<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>We onderzoeken het klimaateffect van luchtvaart, beleidsmaatregelen om het negatieve klimaateffect van de luchtvaart te verkleinen, en ontwikkelingen die een circulair luchtvaartsysteem naderbij moeten brengen. Daartoe maken en gebruiken we reken- en meetmethoden, reken- en meethulpmiddelen en rapportagehulpmiddelen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:0px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer wp-container-content-b0b89ccb\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Geluid<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>We doen onderzoek naar vliegtuiggeluid en hoe dit tot (gezondheids)klachten kan leiden. Ook daarvoor maken en gebruiken we reken- en meetmethoden, reken- en meethulpmiddelen en rapportagehulpmiddelen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:0px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer wp-container-content-b0b89ccb\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Emissies<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Tot slot onderzoeken we de omvang en verspreiding van vliegtuigemissies en welke (gezondheids)klachten die kunnen veroorzaken. Het gaat hierbij zowel om stoffen waarvan de effecten op luchtkwaliteit bekend zijn (denk aan fijnstof, zwaveloxiden en stikstofoxiden) als om stoffen waarvan de effecten nog niet goed in kaart zijn gebracht (zoals ultrafijnstof en vluchtige organische stoffen). We sluiten hierbij aan op ontwikkelingen in nationale en Europese regelgeving.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:0px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer wp-container-content-b0b89ccb\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:0px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer wp-container-content-62aae154\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Enkele projecten<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-text-color has-black-50-color has-alpha-channel-opacity has-black-50-background-color has-background\"\/>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group is-content-justification-left is-layout-constrained wp-container-core-group-is-layout-12dd3699 wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text alignwide has-media-on-the-right is-stacked-on-mobile is-vertically-aligned-center\" style=\"grid-template-columns:auto 40%\"><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">AIRMOD<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Binnen het project AIRMOD wordt gewerkt aan de vijfde editie van het Europese rekenvoorschrift voor geluid rondom luchthavens (ECAC Doc.29). In deze nieuwe editie staat een grote update van het vliegmechanica-model gepland met als doel dit deel van het model te moderniseren, meer gedetailleerd te specificeren en daardoor de verschillende implementaties door Europa heen te harmoniseren. Eind 2023 is al een belangrijke stap gezet met de succesvolle update van het onderliggende atmosferische model en de prestatieberekeningen voor startend verkeer. Het eindrapport is in voorbereiding. Ons emissietool is verder ontwikkeld om de klimaatimpact van vluchten te berekenen op basis van geregistreerde en alternatieve trajecten (voor individuele vluchten). Hierbij worden niet alleen CO2-emissies meegenomen maar ook andere emissies zoals waterdamp (H2O), stikstofoxiden (NOx) en contrails. Ons tool maakt gebruik van BADA3-prestatietabellen voor vliegtuigen en ERA5-weersgegevens voor nauwkeurige weersimulaties. Hierbij wordt gekeken naar de emissies vanaf het moment dat de brandstof getankt wordt tot het moment dat deze verbrand wordt (Tank-to-Wake). Door middel van een literatuurstudie wordt vastgesteld wat de wetenschappelijke consensus is over de verschillen in emissies tussen SAF en traditionele kerosine na verbranding. Het model kan nu ook worden toegepast op grotere databases voor EU-brede toepassing. <br>Daarnaast is er een inventarisatie gemaakt van de specifieke vragen die nog verder onderzoek vereisen met betrekking tot duurzame luchtvaartoperaties. Deze vragen hebben betrekking op de effecten van hybride-elektrische-, elektrische- en waterstofvliegtuigen op de brandstofinfrastructuur op landside, zoals financi\u00eble aspecten en veiligheid. Ook worden de effecten van waterstof op airside-operaties onderzocht. Verder wordt gekeken naar de toekomstige volumevraag naar waterstof en elektriciteit op luchthavens en welke stappenplannen nodig zijn om dit te kunnen faciliteren.<\/p>\n<\/div><figure
