(GA-ASI) voor het ontwikkelen van procedures waarmee MALE (Medium Altitude, Long Endurance) RPA&#8217;s (Remotely Piloted Aircraft, op afstand bestuurde luchtvaartuigen) op een veilige en effici\u00ebnte manier in het Europese luchtruim ge\u00efntegreerd kunnen worden. De eerste fase van deze samenwerking werd op 28 en 29 mei 2019 afgesloten met een grootschalige simulatie-oefening op de Amsterdamse campus van NLR. Het doel van deze oefening was het testen van de eerste versie van de luchtruimintegratieprocedures voor MALE RPA. Hiervoor werden ervaren luchtverkeersleiders (Air Traffic Controllers, oftewel ATCO&#8217;s) en piloten met een brevet voor vliegtuigen of RPA&#8217;s ingeschakeld. De oefening omvatte operaties vanaf de burgerluchthaven Rotterdam The Hague Airport (EHRD), en maakte gebruik van een gesimuleerde MQ-9B SkyGuardian MALE RPA, een op afstand bestuurbaar luchtvaartuig dat door GA-ASI is ontworpen en gebouwd.<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201eHet doel van dit onderzoek is gaandeweg de procedures te ontwikkelen die nodig zijn om MALE RPA&#8217;s in Europa te laten vliegen, op basis van empirisch bewijs van een reeks realtime simulatie-oefeningen,\u201d aldus dr. ir. Emmanuel Sunil, R&amp;D-engineer en projectmanager bij NLR. \u201eTijdens de eerste simulaties in mei stelden we luchtverkeersleiders bloot aan allerlei noodsituaties, vari\u00ebrend van motorstoring tot het wegvallen van de verbinding tussen piloot en RPA. De resultaten laten zien dat dankzij de door ons ontwikkelde nieuwe procedures MALE RPA&#8217;s veilig en effici\u00ebnt in het Europese burgerluchtruim kunnen vliegen naast het bemande luchtverkeer.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Voor de oefening werden twee simulatoren van NLR ingezet: de NLR ATM Research Simulator (NARSIM), die luchtverkeer simuleert en werkplekken omvat voor luchtverkeersleiders en piloten, en het NLR Multi UAS Supervision Testbed (MUST), dat fungeert als de RPA-simulator en het grondstation voor de piloot. GA-ASI leverde ondersteuning voor deze oefening door 3D- en kinematische modellen van de SkyGuardian RPA beschikbaar te stellen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Toekomstige simulatiestudies staan gepland om de betrouwbaarheid van de integratieprocedures voor MALE RPA&#8217;s in het luchtruim verder te verbeteren. Hiervoor wordt de effectiviteit van TCAS II aan boord getest, en wordt gekeken naar het gebruik van nieuwe technologie\u00ebn zoals Detect and Avoid (DAA) om de veiligheid van RPA-gebruik te verhogen.
