Met de introductie van een Trim Excitation Device (TED) zetten we een volgende stap in de nauwkeurigheid en precisie van windtunneltesten voor tiltrotor-vliegtuigen. De ontwikkeling draagt bij aan de ambitie van NLR om innovatieleider te zijn op het gebied van windtunneltesten.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Een van de belangrijkste drijfveren achter het verbeteren van het ontwerp van een tiltrotor is de aero-elastische instabiliteit gekenmerkt door sterk gekoppelde vleugel-rotorbewegingen die ook wel <em>whirl flutter<\/em> wordt genoemd. Dit verschijnsel beperkt doorgaans de maximumsnelheid die het vliegtuig kan bereiken.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Windtunneltesten helpen om dit soort aerodynamische eigenschappen van een vliegtuig te begrijpen en te verbeteren. Door middel van schaalmodellen en windtunneltesten kunnen engineers de prestaties van een vliegtuig simuleren en optimaliseren.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Betrouwbaar en nauwkeurig testen<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>TED is een geavanceerd apparaat dat bestaat uit drie hoofdcomponenten: de trim (de offset), de excitatie (de frequentie) en de amplitude (de uitslag). Omdat deze drie componenten onafhankelijk van elkaar zijn, kan TED worden aangepast aan de specifieke excitatiebehoeften van elk aero-elastisch rotor-model. Hierdoor biedt TED een betrouwbare en nauwkeurige manier om vliegprestaties onder specifieke condities te testen en te optimaliseren.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Het apparaat heeft een robuust tandwielsysteem en een ge\u00efntegreerd bladveer-mechanisme, waardoor precieze amplitudecontrole mogelijk is. Bovendien kan TED een breed frequentiebereik van 1 tot 25 hertz simuleren, waardoor het een breed scala aan realistische scenario&#8217;s kan nabootsen. Hierdoor stellen we onze klanten in staat om testen als <em>whirl flutter<\/em> te kunnen uitvoeren, waarmee vliegprestaties kunnen worden geoptimaliseerd.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"NLR introduces Trim Excitation Device (TED) for innovative windtunnel testing\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/8EDU5XVYE3I?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Octrooi<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Voor TED, dat ontwikkeld is voor het <a href=\"https:\/\/www.attila-project.eu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ATTILA-project<\/a> (<em>Advanced Testbed for TILtrotor Aeroelastics<\/em>), is onlangs met succes een octrooiaanvraag ingediend die inmiddels zowel in Europa als in de VS is toegekend. Het octrooi stelt NLR in staat de unieke technologie achter TED in de toekomst te blijven benutten en te valoriseren. Met deze technologie en het octrooi profileert NLR zich als d\u00e9 strategische partner in de ontwikkeling en het testen van geavanceerde (tilt)rotorsystemen.
