Door middel van vliegcampagnes heeft het ELECTRI-FLY-project als doel om de kennis over dit soort atmosferische elektrische fenomenen te vergroten. De lancering van het project markeert het offici\u00eble begin van een internationale wetenschappelijke samenwerking.<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ter gelegenheid van de IFAR (<em>International Forum for Aviation Research<\/em>) Werkgroep Workshop in Toulouse op 12 juni, wordt een IFAR-samenwerkingsonderzoeksproject genaamd ELECTRI-FLY officieel gelanceerd onder co\u00f6rdinatie van het Franse lucht- en ruimtevaartinstituut ONERA. Dit project, dat wordt uitgevoerd in samenwerking met vier grote luchtvaartonderzoeksinstellingen &#8211; NRC (Canada), NLR (Nederland), NASA (Verenigde Staten) en JAXA (Japan) &#8211; maakt deel uit van de samenwerkingsonderzoeksactiviteiten van het IFAR-netwerk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" src=\"https:\/\/www.nlr.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/copyright_nlr_2020_064_2007_nlr-cessna-citation-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2050\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.nlr.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/copyright_nlr_2020_064_2007_nlr-cessna-citation-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.nlr.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/copyright_nlr_2020_064_2007_nlr-cessna-citation-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.nlr.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/copyright_nlr_2020_064_2007_nlr-cessna-citation-768x432.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.nlr.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/copyright_nlr_2020_064_2007_nlr-cessna-citation-1536x864.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/www.nlr.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/copyright_nlr_2020_064_2007_nlr-cessna-citation-1320x743.jpg 1320w, https:\/\/www.nlr.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/copyright_nlr_2020_064_2007_nlr-cessna-citation.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Gedurende een periode van vier jaar heeft dit ambitieuze wetenschappelijke project ELECTRI-FLY (een acroniem voor <em>atmospheric ELEctricity Characterization ThRough InFLight measurements<\/em>) als doel om de kennis over atmosferische elektrische fenomenen te vergroten. Met name over de mechanismen van elektrische (ont)lading en de vorming van onweerswolken. Door middel van vluchtmetingcampagnes zullen twee onderzoeksvliegtuigen uitgerust met innovatieve sensoren de elektrische en microfysica-eigenschappen van wolken met grote precisie karakteriseren. Een van de vliegtuigen is de PH-LAB van NLR in samenwerking met de Technische Universiteit Delft. Deze gemodificeerde Cessna Citation dient als een veelzijdig luchtvaartonderzoeksplatform.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>De verzamelde gegevens zullen worden verwerkt en diepgaand geanalyseerd om een referentie-atmosfeerdatabase te cre\u00ebren. Deze informatie zal bijdragen aan het verbeteren van de fundamentele kennis over wolkelektrificatie en blikseminitiatie, terwijl atmosfeersimulatiemodellen voor luchtvaartveiligheid, trajectoptimalisatie en vluchtplanning worden verbeterd.
