Ondanks de teleurstelling pakken de projectpartners de draad weer op. De oorzaak is nog niet bekend, maar dit soort incidenten toont aan dat uitvoerig testen noodzakelijk is.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Op donderdagavond 11 mei heeft de DEP-SFD (<em>Distributed Electric Propulsion Scaled Flight Demonstrator<\/em>), tijdens het uitvoeren van grondtesten, vlam gevat op het parkeerterrein van NLR in Amsterdam. NLR voert dit soort noodzakelijke testen uit om nieuwe technologie beschikbaar te maken voor de luchtvaart. Zover bekend waren er geen problemen aan het elektrisch aangedreven vliegtuig op het moment dat de crew met het uitvoeren van de testen begon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Volgens senior scientist Henk Jentink is het een bittere pil: \u201cWe balen er enorm van. Op dit moment kunnen we nog niets zeggen over de toedracht van de brand, maar tijdens het testen zagen we rook uit het toestel komen. Omdat het toestel voorzien is van accu\u2019s hebben we op basis van ons risicoplan daarom meteen de hulpdiensten ingeschakeld. Zij hebben het toestel geblust en vervolgens de accu\u2019s verwijderd en onschadelijk gemaakt\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Het onfortuinlijke incident heeft geleid tot aanzienlijke schade aan het toestel en heeft het tijdschema verstoord. \u201cHet is teleurstellend om te zien dat onze inspanningen tot nu toe niet het gewenste resultaat hebben opgeleverd\u201d, vervolgt Jentink. \u201cHet is een vervelende situatie, maar we moeten de lessen die we hieruit kunnen trekken, benutten om onze toekomstige inspanningen te verbeteren\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hoewel dit een aanzienlijke tegenslag is, benadrukt Jentink dat dit incident de betrokken projectpartners niet zal weerhouden om het onderzoek voort te zetten. \u201cLaten we dit incident zien als een leermoment en een kans om veerkracht te tonen. Samen kunnen we de uitdagingen overwinnen en ons onderzoek naar nieuwe hoogten tillen.
