Moderne benaderingen bieden kortere ontwikkelingscycli en voordelen voor grootte, gewicht, vermogen en kosten. Het behalen van een lange levensduur met commerci\u00eble elektronica blijft echter een uitdaging. Het <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tristan-project.eu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">TRISTAN<\/a>-consortium heeft RISC-V, een open-source processorarchitectuur, onderzocht als Europees alternatief voor gebruik in de ruimte om de afhankelijkheid van niet-EU-leveranciers te verminderen en tegelijkertijd aanpasbare, stralingsbestendige ontwerpen mogelijk te maken.*<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">De uitdaging<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Ruimtestraling kan ernstige problemen veroorzaken in elektronische systemen, zoals gegevenscorruptie, processorstoringen en systeemuitval. Om deze effecten tegen te gaan, hebben we de effectiviteit van logica-niveau- en geheugenniveau-bescherming voor een RISC-V processor vergeleken. Bovendien kan de doeltreffendheid van beschermingsmaatregelen vari\u00ebren afhankelijk van de operatie die de processor uitvoert<em>.<\/em> Om een realistisch beeld te krijgen, moet hier dus rekening mee worden gehouden. De configuraties combineerden systematisch verschillende technieken zoals <em>lockstep<\/em>, <em>triple modular redundancy<\/em> en <em>error correction code <\/em>om de bijdrage van logica-niveau- en geheugenniveau-bescherming te isoleren. Daarnaast zijn ook de effecten van hybride configuraties getest. Methoden voor gegevensintegriteit bleken het meest effectief, waardoor stille gegevenscorruptie en functionele interruptiegevoeligheid aanzienlijk werden verminderd, met minimale impact op energieverbruik en processorformaat. Deze was verbonden met een <em>host controller <\/em>voor geautomatiseerde benchmarktests en <em>real-time<\/em> foutdetectie. Ons team heeft ook stralingsexperimenten uitgevoerd met protonen bij HollandPTC met een energie van 200 MeV, waarbij acht configuraties en vier benchmarks getest zijn. Hiermee zijn gevoeligheidsgegevens verkregen met statistische betrouwbaarheidsintervallen. In een vervolgexperiment met zware ionen in CERN&#8217;s HEARTS-faciliteit zijn loodionen gebruikt met verschillende <em>linear energy transfer <\/em>waarden om directe ionisatie-effecten en meervoudige bit-fouten te karakteriseren.
