Ze doen dit voor een bilaterale missie om de oorsprong van radarsignalen te onderzoeken.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Het consortium van onderzoeksinstituten Koninklijke NLR en <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tno.nl\/nl\/aandachtsgebieden\/defensie-veiligheid\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">TNO<\/a>, en het Noorse Defensie-onderzoeksinstituut <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ffi.no\/en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">FFI<\/a> (Forsvarets Forskningsinstitutt) ontwikkelt een demonstratiemissie voor een observatiesysteem vanuit de ruimte in het kader van het project \u2018Military Use of Space\u2019 (MilSpace2). De inzet van satellieten maakt Defensie uiteindelijk minder afhankelijk van externe partijen. Voor de bouw van nanosatellieten \u2018Birkeland\u2019 en \u2018Huygens\u2019 is <a href=\"https:\/\/nanoavionics.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">NanoAvionics<\/a> uit Litouwen geselecteerd na een onafhankelijk evaluatieproces met aanbieders uit verschillende landen. Het is voor het eerst dat Nederland en Noorwegen gezamenlijk satellieten ontwikkelen en zullen lanceren. De lancering van de twee nanosatellieten, die samen de MilSpace2-missie vormen, staat gepland voor medio 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>MilSpace2-missie<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>De MilSpace2-missie is een innovatief systeem dat onder alle weersomstandigheden met behulp van \u2018Birkeland\u2019 en \u2018Huygens\u2019 radarsignalen &#8211; inclusief navigatieradars op schepen &#8211; detecteert en lokaliseert op basis van verschillende meettechnieken. Het platform voor de twee nanosatellieten is gebaseerd op de bestaande M6P-nanosatellietbus van NanoAvionics die zorgt voor een nauwkeurige standregeling en positie voor de gewenste baan van de satellieten. De payload, oftewel de nuttige lading van de kleine satellieten, is een door het consortium ontwikkeld meetinstrument.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>De MilSpace2-demonstratiemissie bestaat uit twee identieke 6U-cubesats (1U komt overeen met een afmeting van 10x10x10 cm) die in tandemformatie zullen vliegen in een lage aardbaan op ca. 600 km hoogte. De twee satellieten zullen in dezelfde baan vliegen met een onderlinge afstand van 15 \u00e0 25 km, waardoor de nanosatellieten gelijktijdig signalen van specifieke radarsystemen kunnen detecteren.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Voortbouwend op de ervaring van de Noorse NorSat-3 en de Nederlandse BRIK-II-missies die nu in ontwikkeling zijn, verwacht het consortium met deze bilaterale missie ook waardevolle inzichten te verwerven over formatievliegen met nanosatellieten.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Consortium<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Nederland en Noorwegen werken samen op strategisch belangrijke onderzoeksterreinen in \u2018Strategic Mutual Assistance in Research and Technology\u2019 (SMART). Een van de projecten die hieronder valt is MilSpace. Doel van de samenwerking is om een brede kennis op te bouwen over huidige en toekomstige ruimtevaart-gerelateerde technieken, technologie\u00ebn en concepten. Binnen het consortium zijn de taken verdeeld, waarbij Koninklijke NLR toeziet op de verwerving van de MilSpace2-satellieten en de integratie van de instrumenten op die platformen. TNO werkt aan het ontwerp en bouw van de innovatieve onderdelen van de instrumenten zoals de antennes en de signaalontvangers.
