Voor de overstap naar waterstof (H<sub>2<\/sub>) zullen echter behoorlijke veranderingen nodig zijn aan het ontwerp van vliegtuigen, onder meer om de veilige opslag en distributie van dit brandbare gas te garanderen. Om deze uitdagingen aan te pakken, zijn binnen het <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dlr.de\/en\/as\/research-and-transfer\/projects\/faster-h2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">FASTER-H2<\/a>-project baanbrekende technologie\u00ebn onderzocht voor de ontwikkeling van ge\u00efntegreerde romp- en staartconfiguraties voor de volgende generatie waterstofaangedreven vliegtuigen voor de korte tot middellange afstand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">De uitdaging<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>NLR heeft vier sleuteltechnologie\u00ebn onderzocht. Er is bijvoorbeeld gekeken naar het detecteren van beginnende microscheurtjes in composiet tanks voor vloeibare waterstof bij temperaturen tot 20 kelvin (-253 graden Celsius). Verder heeft NLR onderzocht hoe een vliegtuig zuiniger kan worden met <em>double-hinged rudder <\/em>ontwerpen (DHR, een roer met twee scharnierpunten), die ook aero-elastische stabiliteit moeten bieden. NLR heeft daarnaast gewerkt aan composietmaterialen: ze hebben onderzocht of inductielassen kunnen worden toegepast op dikke composieten voor waterstofaangedreven vliegtuigen. Ook hebben ze methoden ontwikkeld voor snellere niet-destructieve inspectie van deze materialen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group alignwide has-background is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\" style=\"background-color:#eff5fb\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">De oplossing<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>De resultaten van de vier technologie\u00ebn demonstreren de effectiviteit van Akoestische Emissie (AE)-glasvezelsensoren bij het detecteren van microscheurtjes tot 20 kelvin. Het DHR-concept bleek aero-elastische stabiliteit te behouden door een extern mechanisme en <em>spanwise splits<\/em>, waardoor de effectiviteit wordt verhoogd. Bovendien zijn 7,4 mm dikke thermoplastische ribben voor de waterstoftankbevestiging succesvol aan een <em>skin<\/em> gelast met inductielassen, waardoor een hoge sterkte op couponniveau is bereikt en modelvoorspellingen zijn bevestigd. Ook bleek <a href=\"https:\/\/reports.nlr.nl\/items\/001450b4-48af-4c7e-86b7-a6cbb7a4368f\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">infraroodthermografie<\/a> effectief te zijn bij het detecteren van defecten in grote thermoplastische koolstofvezelversterkte polymeren romphuiden tot 4,5 mm diep. Bovendien zijn de DHR-concepten gemodelleerd en geanalyseerd, gefocust op aerodynamica en aero-elasticiteit. De concepten met externe mechanismen en <em>spanwise splits<\/em> zijn verder verfijnd door gedetailleerde analyse.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><span style=\"font-size: revert; color: inherit; background-color: var(--wp--preset--color--white); font-weight: inherit;\"><span style=\"font-size: revert; color: inherit; background-color: var(--wp--preset--color--white); font-weight: inherit;\">NLR heeft ook de productietechnologie\u00ebn en <a href=\"https:\/\/reports.nlr.nl\/items\/187974d5-9937-4438-9027-288fe17276e6\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">modelleringen<\/a> verder ontwikkeld en coupon-tests uitgevoerd. De waterstoftankbevestiging met inductiegelaste ribben is succesvol getest door een partner.
