De simulator is door NLR ontworpen en gebouwd en biedt ruimte voor twee bemanningsleden. Het HPS is ontwikkeld met speciale aandacht voor vliegeigenschappen en <em>humane factor<\/em>-onderzoek. Dankzij de mogelijkheid om het HPS te koppelen aan andere simulatieplatformen kan het worden ingezet in complexe scenario\u2019s met luchtverkeersleiding en\/of andere vliegtuigen, inclusief missieondersteunde systemen en <em>Computer-Generated Forces<\/em>.<\/strong> <strong>Bovendien zijn alle modellen, interfaces en besturingssystemen flexibel aanpasbaar en genereren ze nauwkeurig meetbare resultaten. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Het HPS wordt onder andere gebruikt voor:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list is-style-with-arrow\">\n<li>Onderzoek naar menselijke factoren, zoals werkbelasting, prestaties en samenwerking<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Analyse van incidenten en ongevallen<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ontwikkeling en evaluatie van helikopterprocedures<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Testen van nieuwe helikoptertypen en -systemen<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Onderwijs- en trainingsonderzoek voor piloten<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ergonomie- en cockpitontwerp-studies, zoals een <em>Helmet Mounted Display<\/em> (HMD) en sensor simulatie.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group is-style-default has-black-5-background-color has-background is-layout-constrained wp-container-core-group-is-layout-6c83dfe0 wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\" style=\"padding-top:var(--wp--preset--spacing--40);padding-right:var(--wp--preset--spacing--40);padding-bottom:var(--wp--preset--spacing--40);padding-left:var(--wp--preset--spacing--40)\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Belangrijkste kenmerken<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list is-style-with-arrow\">\n<li>Het Helicopter Pilot Station biedt naast de standaard helikopter <em>flight controls<\/em> (<em>collective, cyclic stick and pedals<\/em>) ook, een door NLR gepatenteerd, tilt-rotor power lever (gecombineerde <em>collective <\/em>en <em>throttle<\/em>). Alle <em>flight controls<\/em> zijn voorzien van een elektrisch stuurkrachtensysteem. Dit systeem biedt de mogelijkheid om de stuurkrachten waarheidsgetrouw in te stellen.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>De cockpitinstrumenten worden weergegeven op grote touchscreens. De beeldgeneratie van de instrumenten wordt verzorgd door een NLR <em>rapid prototyping software tool<\/em>, waardoor kosteneffectief nieuwe display concepten kunnen worden aangemaakt.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Het buitenbeeld wordt door vier projectoren, in hoge resolutie, geprojecteerd op een scherm met een kijkhoek van 180 graden horizontaal en 70 graden verticaal.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>NLR beschikt over uitgebreide kennis en ervaring op het gebied van helikoptermodellering en -validatie. We gebruiken ART FlightLab-software als de voornaamste omgeving voor het modelleren en simuleren van de vliegdynamica van helikopters en tilt-rotorvliegtuigen.
