Om dronebestuurders te voorzien van informatie over de actuele en verwachte weersituatie, ontwikkelt NLR een dienst voor hyperlokale kortetermijns windprognoses voor drones. Omdat kleine drones zo licht zijn, kunnen ze kwetsbaar zijn voor wind. Dit geldt met name voor vluchten op lage hoogte in stedelijke gebieden, waar zowel de windsnelheid als de windrichting abrupt kunnen veranderen. Om de verschillende toepassingen van drones in stedelijke gebieden veilig te kunnen realiseren, is realtime en nauwkeurige kennis van de wind op lage hoogte nodig. Om deze dienst te ontwikkelen heeft NLR het METSIS-project (METeo Sensors In the Sky) uitgevoerd.<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">De uitdaging<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Het doel van het METSIS-concept is om hyperlokale windinformatie in realtime te schatten en te communiceren aan drone-operators, met behulp van gegevens die door de drones zelf zijn gemeten, d.w.z. door drones in te zetten als een luchtwindsensornetwerk. De nieuwigheid van het METSIS-concept is dat er een netwerk van drones wordt gebruikt om niet alleen de windsterkte op de locaties van de drones zelf te meten, maar ook om het 3D-windveld binnen het gebied waarin de windmetingen plaatsvinden, te schatten met behulp van het Meteo Particle Model (MPM). De resulterende schattingen van het windveld, die worden bijgewerkt wanneer er nieuwe metingen van individuele drones worden ontvangen, kunnen door drone-operators voor talloze toepassingen worden gebruikt, zoals het berekenen van windgeoptimaliseerde routes om de veiligheid en effici\u00ebntie van de missie te verbeteren (bijvoorbeeld de levensduur\/het bereik van de accu).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group alignwide has-background is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\" style=\"background-color:#eff5fb\">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">De oplossing<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Het MENSIS-concept bestaat uit drie hoofdstappen:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Vliegende drones meten direct de windtoestand en sturen de gegevens door naar een grondstation.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Het grondstation gebruikt het Meteo Particle Model (MPM) om het windveld in realtime te schatten.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Het grondstation communiceert windveldgegevens naar dronebestuurders via de U-space weersinformatiedienst.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"306\" src=\"https:\/\/www.nlr.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/copyright_nlr_e1662_metsis-illustratie_bw-1024x306.png\" alt=\"MENSIS concept \" class=\"wp-image-3758\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.nlr.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/copyright_nlr_e1662_metsis-illustratie_bw-1024x306.png 1024w, https:\/\/www.nlr.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/copyright_nlr_e1662_metsis-illustratie_bw-300x90.png 300w, https:\/\/www.nlr.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/copyright_nlr_e1662_metsis-illustratie_bw-768x229.png 768w, https:\/\/www.nlr.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/copyright_nlr_e1662_metsis-illustratie_bw-1536x459.png 1536w, https:\/\/www.nlr.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/copyright_nlr_e1662_metsis-illustratie_bw-2048x611.png 2048w, https:\/\/www.nlr.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/copyright_nlr_e1662_metsis-illustratie_bw-1320x394.png 1320w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Wat doen wij?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-f0342b05 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\" style=\"margin-top:0;margin-bottom:0\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>Koninklijke NLR voerde een proof-of-concept-experiment uit met vier drones om de haalbaarheid en nauwkeurigheid van het concept op lage hoogte te bepalen. Voor het experiment werden op elke drone ultrasone anemometers gemonteerd om de lokale wind te meten. De kalibratie van de windsensoren werd getest met behulp van de NLR Anechoic Wind Tunnel. Vervolgens werden er vluchtproeven uitgevoerd bij NLR Drone Centre om het effect van obstakels, dronebewegingen, meetdichtheid en meetfouten op de conceptnauwkeurigheid te evalueren.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\" style=\"flex-basis:10px\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>De tijdens de vluchtproeven geschatte windvelden werden gepubliceerd in het AirHub Drone Operations Center (DOC)-systeem om te demonstreren hoe deze gegevens in realtime aan de eindgebruikers van U-space konden worden gecommuniceerd.
