Deze biedt een effectieve benadering voor het verkennen van de operationele capaciteit voor maritieme operaties met marinehelikopters.<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In maart 2023 evalueerde de Duitse Bundeswehr de operationele capaciteiten van haar NH90 Sea Lions op het gevechtsondersteuningsvaartuig (EGV \u2013 Einsatz Gruppen Versorger) Bonn in de Noordzee. Het doel was om veilige operationele limieten vast te stellen waarbinnen NH90-helikopters kunnen opstijgen en landen op schepen van de EGV-klasse. De &#8220;Nederlandse&#8221; methode, die oorspronkelijk door NLR in samenwerking met de Nederlandse marine werd ontwikkeld en samen met AeroMath verder werd verbeterd, zorgde voor aanzienlijke besparingen in de duur en kosten van deze zeeproeven.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Operationele limieten<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Helikopters die vanaf schepen opereren, moeten rekening houden met factoren zoals windsnelheid en -richting, de bewegingen van het schip en stuifwater. De operationele limieten voor een veilige landing \u2013 bekend als SHOL&#8217;s \u2013 werden traditioneel uitsluitend vastgesteld door testvluchten op zee. Dergelijke testvluchten duurden normaal vier weken en vereisten 80 uur vliegtijd.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In de jaren 1980 gaf de Nederlandse marine NLR echter de opdracht om een testmethode te ontwikkelen waarmee het aantal testuren op zee aanzienlijk kon worden teruggebracht zodat er minder middelen nodig waren voor het testen. Sindsdien omvat de &#8220;Nederlandse&#8221; methode het testen van scheepsmodellen in de windtunnel van Duits-Nederlandse Windtunnels (DNW) om de luchtstromingseigenschappen rond schepen vast te stellen. De tweede fase van de methode bestaat uit <em>hover trials<\/em> op land, waarbij helikopters worden blootgesteld aan verschillende windrichtingen en -snelheden. Hierna moeten de resulterende kandidaatvluchtomhullingen (dat wil zeggen, de combinatie van de gegevens uit windtunneltesten en landtesten) worden ge\u00ebvalueerd tijdens zeeproeven. Factoren die een rol spelen zijn onder andere de snelheid en bewegingen van het schip, het stuifwater dat door de golven wordt opgeworpen, en de visuele referentie en werkbelasting van de helikopterpiloten.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Strategische ambitie<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>De zeeproeven van de NH90 Sea Lions voor EGV Bonn werden samen met Nederlandse partners NLR en AeroMath uitgevoerd. In totaal vonden er 306 landingen plaats, wat neerkomt op een gemiddelde van \u00e9\u00e9n landing per vier minuten. Tijdens deze eerste gezamenlijke zeeproeven waren ongeveer 30 vlieguren nodig over een periode van 5 dagen, terwijl toch een maximale operationele capaciteit werd gegarandeerd.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Al met al was het een genoegen om de Duitse Bundeswehr te helpen bij het realiseren van maximale operationele capaciteit, waardoor deze zich kon concentreren op haar primaire taak op het gebied van maritieme veiligheid. De methodologie kan ook worden aangeboden aan de marine van andere bevriende naties.
