Hoe kun je deze \u2018nieuwkomers\u2019 inpassen en laten samengaan met de bestaande luchtruimgebruikers? Het programma Veilige en Concurrerende Operatie (VCO) van NLR zoekt naar oplossingen.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Met Schiphol behoort Nederland tot de top drie van de grootste Europese luchthavens, maar we hebben een veel kleiner luchtruim dan veel andere landen. \u2018Ons luchtruim zit al best vol\u2019, zegt programmaleider Nick van den Dungen van Koninklijke NLR \u2013 het Nederlands Lucht- en Ruimtevaartcentrum. \u2018Drones hebben steeds meer vliegruimte nodig en het ministerie van Defensie heeft bijvoorbeeld aangegeven dat het F35-jachtvliegtuig meer luchtruim nodig heeft om te oefenen dan de voorganger F-16. Daar komt nog bij dat we duurzamer willen vliegen en effici\u00ebntere systemen willen ontwikkelen waardoor het vliegverkeer optimaal op elkaar aansluit. Om dit in goede banen te leiden, is veel onderzoek nodig.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>ITARO<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Het leidde tot het kennisprogramma&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nlr.nl\/aandachtsgebieden\/programmas\/programma-veilige-en-concurrerende-operatie\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Veilige en Concurrerende Operatie<\/a>, dat uit meerdere projecten bestaat. Een van die projecten waar NLR bij betrokken was is het Europese project ITARO, dat zich richtte op de invoering van duurzamere vliegoperaties met vaste naderingsroutes. Als onderdeel van een optimaal vliegpad kunnen vliegtuigen tijdens de landing continu dalen, waardoor minder motorvermogen nodig is, wat minder brandstofverbruik en geluidshinder veroorzaakt. \u2018We hebben met luchtverkeerssimulatoren verschillende scenario\u2019s doorgenomen om deze optimale routes te testen. Daarnaast hebben we door middel van een vliegproef onderzocht hoe dicht op elkaar de vliegtuigen het vliegveld kunnen naderen, om zodoende vertragingen en omvliegen te beperken.\u2019 Het is belangrijk dat vliegtuigen niet te dicht bij elkaar in de buurt komen in verband met de veiligheid. Die propellers produceren ook geluid. Wat betekent dat voor de geluidsoverlast in de gebieden waar ze overheen willen vliegen? Uiteraard is dat een belangrijke factor naast het beperken van de klimaatimpact.
