Become an NLR test participant
At NLR, we accelerate the sustainability and safety of aviation and aerospace by translating pioneering knowledge into innovative solutions. To achieve this, we regularly conduct research that requires test participants, often at one of our research facilities in Amsterdam.
Are you interested in taking part in these studies? Then sign up as an NLR test participant.
Our research
We conduct various types of research that you can contribute to as a test participant. These are often part of (international) research projects funded by the Ministry of Defence, the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management (I&W), the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), or Single European Sky ATM Research (SESAR). For example, these involve:
- research into measuring cognitive processes using new measurement equipment (for instance, based on brain waves or eye movements)
- research into workload and occupational stress, and their effect on cognition and performance
- research into different types of training using (flight) simulators and VR
- research into aircraft ambient noise and annoyance perception
Requirements and compensation
In most cases, you can participate in a study from the age of 18. Additional requirements and expectations are described per study. You can also find the compensation provided for participation there (if applicable). In any case, we will reimburse your travel expenses at a rate of €0.21 per kilometre from your home address, up to a maximum of €17.50 per visit.
