  • NLR works with knowledge institutions and industrial partners to develop innovative solutions for defence and security.

Collaboration with industry and knowledge institutions

NLR works with knowledge institutions and industrial partners to rapidly develop innovative solutions for defence and security. By being closely involved in research, policy and implementation, NLR is uniquely positioned to translate applied research into concrete and practical applications. Based on its accumulated knowledge and current experiences from ‘the field’, NLR translates applied research into concrete and practical applications. With NLR’s expertise in defence innovation and the engineering approach of industrial partners, the (inter)national collaboration provides a strong foundation for in-depth technical exchange and data-driven innovation.

During the forum, the importance of innovation, deregulation and swift action was emphasised. The speeches by Mark Rutte, Ursula von der Leyen, Ruben Brekelmans and Gijs Tuinman underlined the collective message: “Innovate, deregulate, now!”. The Chair of VNO-NCW, Ingrid Thijssen, also stressed the importance of a strong economy and industry for the security and defence of Europe. The speech by President Zelensky also made an impression by highlighting what we are working towards, as well as the immense courage, creativity and innovative capacity of Ukraine.

Further expansion and acceleration

“The message that resonates throughout the various speeches during the summit is nicely summarised by Minister Brekelmans of Defence: ‘Unite, innovate and deliver’. This is what NLR, as an applied research organisation, fully commits to. Together, we are stronger. We work daily with Defence and industry for our safety. With the discussions held during the Summit, we will further expand and accelerate these collaborations”, said Tineke van der Veen, CEO of NLR.
