NLR Marknesse - June 2018

The Supervisory Board of NLR – Netherlands Aerospace Centre has appointed Tineke van der Veen, Jan Lintsen, and Martin Nagelsmit as the new collegiate board of the applied research organisation, effective June 1st, 2025[1]. They will take over the responsibilities of the current Managing Director Michel Peters, who will retire.

The increasing complexity of technological and societal needs, the diversity of focus areas, and the anticipated personnel growth made the Supervisory Board reconsider the top structure of NLR. With the choice for a three-headed board, all important aspects of the organisation will get the right attention.

Tineke van der Veen will be responsible as CEO for the overall strategy and leadership of the organisation, Jan Lintsen will focus on financial aspects in his role as CFO, and CTO Martin Nagelsmit will lead technological innovation and knowledge development. This combination of expertise and responsibilities will enable NLR to achieve its ambitious goals and further strengthen its position in the aerospace sector.

Tineke van der Veen: “I am starting as CEO with full confidence to work with all colleagues on NLR’s ambitions. Together, as promoters of an innovative organisation where humans and technology go hand in hand and personal development is crucial alongside innovation. I look forward to celebrating NLR’s future successes with Jan and Martin, as the board, and with our colleagues.”

Jan Lintsen: “The aerospace sector is facing significant changes. Innovation in aviation will need to accelerate further to meet sustainability targets. Additionally, supplementary investments are required to ensure our collective safety. I think it’s great to be able to help seize opportunities for NLR as CFO and manage the associated risks.”

Martin Nagelsmit: “Aerospace has been my passion since childhood, and NLR is a unique place to work with great people, knowledge, and facilities. I look forward to shaping the future of the organisation together with Tineke, Jan, and all other NLR colleagues, and to making an even greater impact together with our stakeholders.”

Michel Peters: “I look forward with confidence to handing over the baton to this team of experienced professionals. It feels good to retire in this way and to bid farewell to this wonderful organisation where I have had the honour of contributing in various roles.”

Jac Jansen, Chairman of the Supervisory Board: “I am delighted that after a thorough procedure, we can finally announce the names of the new board members. I believe that NLR with a three-headed board will be even better equipped to respond to the changing world around us. At the same time, I would like to express my gratitude to Michel, the outgoing board member, for leaving behind a professional and healthy organisation. During his tenure, he has made a significant impact on the organisation and has left a lasting legacy.”
