Olivier den Ouden has been appointed as Division Manager Aerospace Systems and member of the Management Team of Royal Netherlands Aerospace Centre (NLR), effective 1 July 2026. Den Ouden succeeds Mark van Venrooij.

On 18 June 2026, a milestone is celebrated in the Noordoostpolder, an area of the Netherlands reclaimed from the sea. The German-Dutch Wind Tunnels (DNW), a collaboration between the German and Dutch research organisations DLR and NLR, will have been in existence for fifty years. During this time, DNW has grown into a leading organisation for aerodynamic and aeroacoustic experiments for research institutes and industry worldwide.

The Amsterdam Space Symposium 2026 will take place on 3-4 March at the Beurs van Berlage in Amsterdam, marking the first international space conference to be held in The Netherlands. NLR’s research plan for 2026 was recently formally approved. This plan outlines NLR’s planned knowledge development for 2026 and gives concrete shape to the NLR Strategic Plan 2026–2029. In addition, funding has been allocated for three important NLR facilities.
