Crown on 100 years of NLR

Press release, 8 April 2019 - In celebration of its 100th anniversary, His Majesty King Willem-Alexander has granted the Netherlands Aerospace Centre (NLR) the Royal predicate. This prestigious distinction is a crowning achievement for NLR's work as a leading technological knowledge institute in the field of aerospace in the Netherlands. The predicate was presented by the King's Commissioner in North Holland, Arthur van Dijk. NLR is now allowed to call itself the Royal Netherlands Aerospace Centre (NLR).

NLR adjusts incorrect flight profiles for Lelystad Airport

On Monday, 16 October, State Secretary Dijksma announced that she would have it assessed whether a new Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) for Lelystad Airport should be drawn up. This decision was prompted by doubts about the accuracy of the noise calculations, for which NLR provided input data and on which the EIA is based.

NLR's Maaskant Building reopened

The 'Maaskant Building' of NLR in Amsterdam was reopened on Thursday, 9 February 2017. Amsterdam alderman Pieter Litjens, responsible for Traffic and Transport, performed the opening ceremony together with the architect’s son Ronald Maaskant. From start to delivery, it took almost three years to renovate and carry out new-build work at the NLR-Amsterdam site.

NLR applies for a patent

Inventors at the National Aerospace Laboratory NLR have submitted a patent application. The invention pertains to the contactless transfer of electrical power and data in the CROR engine.
