Royal NLR appoints new Board
As of June 1, 2025, NLR will have a new collegiate board. The top structure will be expanded to a three-headed board, consisting of a CEO, a CFO, and a CTO. With the appointment of Tineke van der Veen, Jan Lintsen, and Martin Nagelsmit, the organisation will lay a robust foundation to strengthen and further develop its international knowledge position in the aerospace sector.

DLR and NLR renew and strengthen cooperation
Building upon 50 years of excellent cooperation, the Joint Executive Boards of DLR and NLR are pleased to announce our renewed and strengthened cooperation. We are committed to making progress on multiple topics that are relevant to a more sustainable and resilient society. Three Memoranda of Understanding will be signed addressing unmanned aerial systems, lifecycle engineering and circularity, and electric flying. These three initiatives, together with strong cooperation in defence, flight testing and more, will take our efforts to the next level.

Police partner with Smart Mobility Centre in Marknesse
On 19 August, the police and the police academy signed an intention statement to join the Smart Mobility and Infrastructure knowledge and test centre (MITC) in Marknesse as a partner. This indicates the police's intention to relocate the Centre for Enforcement and Mobility Lelystad to the MITC and, together with NLR, DNW, and RDW, build an innovative knowledge and test centre in the field of smart mobility and infrastructure.

Crown on 100 years of NLR
Press release, 8 April 2019 - In celebration of its 100th anniversary, His Majesty King Willem-Alexander has granted the Netherlands Aerospace Centre (NLR) the Royal predicate. This prestigious distinction is a crowning achievement for NLR's work as a leading technological knowledge institute in the field of aerospace in the Netherlands. The predicate was presented by the King's Commissioner in North Holland, Arthur van Dijk. NLR is now allowed to call itself the Royal Netherlands Aerospace Centre (NLR).

NLR adjusts incorrect flight profiles for Lelystad Airport
On Monday, 16 October, State Secretary Dijksma announced that she would have it assessed whether a new Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) for Lelystad Airport should be drawn up. This decision was prompted by doubts about the accuracy of the noise calculations, for which NLR provided input data and on which the EIA is based.
