Description

Miniaturization of electronic systems is often an enabling factor for demanding aerospace missions. This is also true for avionics elements, where miniaturization often goes hand in hand with a reduction of power consumption which permits achieving further mass savings.

Potential hazard

  1. Susceptibility of line replaceable units to ionizing radiation as a result of ongoing component miniaturization
  2. Inadequate power and cooling needs
  3. Inadequate physical separation of miniaturized systems
