From 7 to 8 November 2013, the National Aerospace Laboratory NLR of The Netherlands will participate in the Dutch Trade Mission to Moscow, Russia, which will be led by the Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Co-operation Mrs. Lilianne Ploumen. NLR joins the mission as a member of DASR (Dutch Aviation Solutions Russia), a group of Dutch aviation related companies. NLR’s mission as a DASR member is to support Russian aviation stakeholders to achieve operational excellence and continuity by further improving safety, capacity and efficiency of Russian air transport in a sustainable way.

A successful DASR knowledge transfer event was the safety training for Russian airlines that took place 24-25 June 2013 in Amsterdam. This event was jointly organized by NLR, SGI Aviation and the Russian company ATO Events. The training concerned ‘from inspection and compliance to risk based safety management. Primary topics were Safety Management Systems (SMS) and Safety Assessment of Foreign Aircraft (SAFA). The training was attended by over 20 delegates of various Russian airlines.

Tomorrow November 7th 2013, NLR is organizing a next safety workshop (one of the four DASR round tables) as part of the Dutch trade mission to Moscow. The topic is ‘Implementation of the ICAO Safety Management Systems requirements in Russia’and the participants will be government officials and airlines. The workshop will be opened by Mr. Okulov, the Deputy Minister of Transport. The primary discussion items are the implications of the new ICAO Annex 19 requirements, implementation obstacles and smart and practically feasible SMS implementation solutions.

In 2014 we foresee follow-on activities of the previous knowledge sharing workshops in the form of pragmatic, implementation oriented training sessions in the Russian Federation.
